Service Description

*COUPLES COURSE- TICKET PRICE IS FOR 2 PEOPLE* Under the guidance of your facilitator, you will join seven other pregnant couples. Sessions run for 1.5 hours and are held weekly after work hours at The Good Hub in Goodwood. Each session includes tea and coffee and a one hour presentation by birth education facilitator on a variety of pregnancy, birth and postnatal recovery topics. This is a 6 week course. Topics covered over the duration sessions 1-4 of the program include: Understanding the stages of labour Coached vs spontaneous pushing Diaphram pushing  How your brain works during labour and addressing fear Vaginal examinations Monitoring baby Water Breaking Pharmaceutical pain management  Augmentation of labour Cascade of intervention Water Birth Birth positioning and pushing Tearing vs episiotomy (and decreasing the chance of both) Induction of labour (natural and medical) Placenta Cord clamping and tying  Stitches Skin to skin post birth Vacuum and forces birth VBAC Breech birth (spinning baby techniques)  C sections Obstretic emergencies Birth Maps Toileting post birth  Postnatal blood loss Haemorrhoids Nappies- disposable and cloth options Baby Bath Breastfeeding  *TOPICS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON GROUP INTERESTS AND NEEDS ​Session 5 of your program will focus on the role partners play in birth and beyond. We will have our co founder and family councillor Jesse visiting for a session to shine a light on the ways partners can support our birthing mothers during birth and postnatally. Jesse will talk through the challenges that dads/partners may face, and strategies to support these challenges to strengthen healthy family relationships.  ​ Session 6 of your program is a 1.5 hour infant first aid workshop with an amazing paramedic from Safe Sprouts (workshop valued at $100) ​ You will also get access to our whole downloadable resource library including Nursey set up checklist, Baby bag checklist, Hospital bad checklist, Safety proofing checklist, Emergency contact numbers download, Birth plan download, Birth Animation cards and Hospital/Home birthing room set up cheat sheet   (Valued at $80).
